NH Digital Resources Consortium is kicking off the first state wide event with NH Statewide Google Apps for Edu Deployment Seminar Featuring - David Trask, IT Professional & Distinguished Educator. Due to high demand there are now two dates for the training at PSU in Concord - May 15th and June 19th. There is still space to sign up. This event will prepare district to send participants Google Apps Boot Camp NH 2012, three separate day long sessions - July 10-13th, featuring three incredibly gifted educators and professional developers: Kern Kelley, Director of Education Technology Regional School Unit #19 in Maine and leader at the Google Teacher Academy; Alice Barr, Instructional Technology Integrator for Yarmouth High School in Yarmouth, Maine where she facilitates a 1:1 laptop environment in grades 9 - 12; and Richard Byrne, US History and Civics Teacher at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in South Paris, ME - and you may know from his popular "Free Technology for Teachers" blog at www.freetech4teachers.com. Each year since 2005, the Office of Educational Technology at the NH Department of Education has provided "Classroom Technology Mini-grants" to teams of teachers at schools. Grant teams are required to implement a Project-Based Learning approach. (Click on image above for posts about LEARNING.)
The Technology Leader Cohort (TLC) Program for Teachers and Administrators was created to support participation by school district teams in this statewide leadership development program. TLC includes online and on-site learning, equipment, and related expenses for several school district teams. (Click on image above for posts about TEACHING.)
Creating 21st century learning environments involves many things. The ability of each individual student, teacher, administrator, and community member to connect to the web is critical. Devices that can access the web and that have the right features to support high quality learning are also critical. As we move from an industrial model of schooling to one that engages students in real world learning and prepares them for their 21st century future, not a 20th century past, careful planning can make the difference.
